Held in one of Australia's most renowned macro photography destinations, the lush Tasmanian forests of Cradle Mountain, this workshop offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn in a truly magical setting. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer looking to refine your skills, we’ve got you covered.

What You’ll Learn:

• Mastering Macro Shots: From setting up the perfect shot to discovering the best macro subjects in the wild, you’ll gain hands-on experience.
• Lighting & Exposure: Learn how to expertly light and expose your subjects, capturing the fine details that make your images pop.
• Sharpness & Focus: We’ll teach you how to shoot in various modes to ensure every detail is crisp and clear, using techniques like focus stacking for perfect sharpness across the frame.
• Post-Processing: In addition to shooting, you’ll receive an in-depth tutorial on editing your macro shots in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Our 1.5-hour video on editing, including focus stacking techniques, will take your images to the next level!

Immerse Yourself in Tasmania’s Natural Beauty
The workshop will take place in the stunning Cradle Mountain National Park, one of Australia’s most iconic macro photography locations. The diverse landscapes, ranging from moss-covered forests to clear mountain streams, provide endless opportunities for breathtaking shots.

As an added bonus, you’ll be visiting during the peak season for Tasmania’s famous Fagus Tree (Nothofagus Gunnii), renowned for its vibrant autumn colours. Capture the awe-inspiring beauty of these stunning trees in full display, adding even more richness to your portfolio.

Schedule & Logistics:
Day 1 (3rd May) will commence at 9am in Sheffield, with each remaining day (4th and 5th May) will start at 7:30 AM in Sheffield, where we'll board a mini bus to Cradle Mountain National Park, returning by 6:30 PM. For those who prefer to stay closer to the park, the day will begin at 10:30 AM from the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre on Day 1.

Pick up is available from Launceston CBD on 3rd May at 7am

Drop off is available back into Launceston CBD on 5th May at 5pm

Please note: Cheryl and Cam will be staying in Sheffield each night - there will be no transfers to and from Launceston for the duration of the workshop. 

This workshop is designed to be an intimate, immersive experience with expert guidance from both Cam Blake and Cheryl Davis—two seasoned macro photographers passionate about sharing their knowledge.

• Transfers to and from National Park (Cradle) mini bus from Sheffield

• Editing sessions supplied via pre-recorded video

Fitness Level Required

• Low to moderate
• Some stairs and gravel paths will be encountered
• Participants will be may need to kneel or sit low to capture small macro subjects

What is not included?

• Accommodation - we recommend Sheffield Motel, Discovery Park (Cradle) or Cradle Mt Hotel as accommodation choices
